It consists of rods and levers suspended from the underframe and bogies and linked with pins and bushes. Rigging requires careful setting up and regular adjustment to ensure forces are evenly distributed to all wheels. Badly set up rigging will cause wheel flats or inadequate brake force.
Brake rigging is now only found on older vehicles where there may only be one or two brake cylinders. More modern systems usually employ one brake cylinder per one of two blocks or per disc.
