System for providing power for vehicle or train lighting, air conditioning, heating, on-board catering or passenger facilities and emergency battery systems. Generally a train has two power supply systems, one for traction and the other for auxiliaries. Auxiliary systems can be supplied from the main traction power sthece through a generator or converter, or through an axle driven generator.
