The signalling term meaning the indication given to the driver of an approaching train by a signal as in "the signal was showing a green aspect". It is said that a driver rarely 'sees' green aspects, only yellow and red ones. After all, he doesn't need to recognise a green signal, he can just carry on at normal speed.
